Sorbitol hydrogenolysis to obtain glycols by using of ruthenium supported catalysts

第二届国际生物质催化炼制大会(CATBIOR 2013)——The results of this study indicate that the support employed determine the physicochemical properties of these ruthenium supported samples and in consequence its catalytic performance. RuAl catalyst,prepared by the impregnation method, showed the highest selectivity to glycols at 74% sorbitol conversion. This behavior is the result of a high dispersion of Ru along with a high surface acidity which favors selectivity to glycols. Thus, a suitable combination of both properties is the key to achieve high yield to glycols.
