Solid Oxide Fuel Cell - An Efficient Electrochemical Energy Conversion Device(2)

The 7th Asia-Pacific Power and Energy Engineering Conference (APPEEC 2015)——Solid oxide fuel cells (SOFCs) are high temperature electrochemical energy conversion devices. SOFCs have higher efficiency than conventional heat engines as their performance is not limited by Carnot efficiency. This talk will cover the working principle, typical materials, and applications of SOFCs. The research works done at the Hong Kong Polytechnic University on SOFC modeling will be presented, with a focus on the analysis of how to improve the SOFC performance by controlling the SOFC microstructure.
